Anderson, SC Newborn Photographer | It's Our Birthday!

It's hard to believe, but on this day 4 years ago, my photography business was born. At the time, it was called Storybook Photography. I had taken a few courses for photography and had spent some time practicing on family and friends, and felt I had a pretty good handle on how to use a camera. I started out as an "all-purpose" photographer. I did family sessions, maternity sessions, kids, couples, whatever I was asked for those first couple of months. That is, until I photographed my first newborn.

After that, I knew right away all I wanted to focus on was babies. I immediately started investing in classes to learn all I could about newborn photography. There's SO MUCH to learn! Baby safety, baby behavior, posing, lighting, and wrapping were all imperative to master. Then, I had to begin collecting all THE STUFF!!! Backdrops, wraps, props, bowls, baskets, buckets, outfits, hats, and the required lighting system were all necessary to do posed newborn style posing correctly! It's A LOT and some times it was overwhelming, but I LOVED doing it so much, that I pushed myself to keep on and learn to be the best at my craft.

It wasn't long that I decided to change my business to include newborns only. That was my passion, and so I felt that was what I should be doing. So, Storybook Photography became Storybook Newborns. I eventually expanded to include babies up to their first birthday, and I finally feel like I am where I need to be.

I LOVE all of the beautiful babies I get to photograph as newborns! I love when parents bring them back to me as Sitters, and then as One Year Olds! It's an honor to watch them grow! I have met so many wonderful people, and made so many friends through this business, and that has been such a blessing.

I am so proud of how far the business has come, but I never stop trying to get better! I continue to invest in education. There are always new things to learn. Education is my biggest and best investment into my business, and I will always strive to continue to grow. And of course, I'm always on the look out for another beautiful prop or piece of fabric. I want my clients to have the very best to use for their sessions!

To think I started out working out of my kitchen, then out of my spare bedroom, on to a tiny rental space, and now, finally, my very own studio building, I have to pinch myself. Thank you all for coming on the journey with me. I could have never imagined what started out as a little side business would become my full time job. It has allowed me to stay at home with my children, and has been a huge blessing to my family. Every single like, share, kind word, or recommendation has helped me to grow, and I am forever grateful. It has been a crazy busy 4 years so far, and I can't wait to see what the next 4 years bring!
